Eleana Toliou

Eleana joined IFM in 2022 and is an Associate in the Asset Management team in New York. She has a background in Economics and Development from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a long-standing interest in the intersection of economic, social, and geopolitical forces. For her, infrastructure sits at the centre of those dynamics, turning broad trends into tangible outcomes that have the potential to shape communities and economies.

“What drew me to Infrastructure was the role I feel it plays in creating opportunity and enabling long-term growth through collaboration between the public and private sectors. This in turn directly connects to our purpose; to invest, protect and grow the long-term retirement savings of working people. It makes my work feel of value.”

Prior to joining IFM, Eleana worked in economics and traffic consulting, supporting infrastructure clients across toll road and airport projects globally. Her work took her to markets across Europe, North America, Africa and Latin America, deepening her understanding of how regulatory, economic and social factors influence infrastructure performance and investment outcomes.

Since joining the team, Eleana has been involved in a broad range of initiatives across different asset classes and stages of the infrastructure investment lifecycle. She has supported due diligence and transaction workstreams for prospective acquisitions and divestments, including market analysis and traffic forecasting. Post acquisition, she has worked closely with portfolio companies on value creation initiatives, capital expansion projects, asset valuations and performance monitoring. Her role has also involved portfolio-wide risk management and opportunity mapping, including assessing exposure to social risks and the impact of workforce trends and emerging technologies.

“What I find most rewarding about this role is that no two days are the same, and the learning curve is steep. We also have a great team across the globe - people are supportive, thoughtful, and always happy to share perspectives and insights.” 

Although based in New York, Eleana spent a year in IFM’s London office, and regularly works with colleagues across regions, including the team in Australia. Having grown up travelling extensively, she values the opportunity to work with people from diverse backgrounds, and to learn from different perspectives across regions and asset classes.

Outside of work, Eleana enjoys exploring New York, spending quality time with friends, family, her puppy, and fitting in the occasional nature escape and summer trip back to Greece.
