IFM Investors 2019 Responsible Business Report
Over the past year, IFM Investors has delivered competitive returns to investors in a considered and responsible way that focuses on mitigating ESG-based investment risk and aligning stakeholder and public interests. Our purpose is clear – to deliver superior net investment returns to members of superannuation and pension funds and like-minded institutional investors.
Whether working with our infrastructure portfolio companies to implement carbon reduction and energy efficiency programs, or engaging with publicly listed companies to improve labour rights or board diversity, our focus and motivation continues to be mitigating risk and harnessing opportunities in order to protect and grow the retirement savings of over 30 million working people around the world over the long term.
Unlisted infrastructure is moving out of the ‘alternatives’ category and sitting beside other unlisted asset classes such as unlisted property. This is especially true for long-term patient capital where infrastructure portfolios can provide a strong foundation for relatively stable long term returns.
I am pleased to present to you the second IFM Investors’ Responsible Business Report. This report builds on last year’s inaugural report, providing greater transparency for our investors and other stakeholders about our responsible business approach, practices and outcomes, including:
-
Investment and stewardship activity across our four asset classes
-
Key elements of our responsible corporate operations framework
-
Responsible business governance and oversight, and
-
Commitments to evolving our responsible business practices and outcomes.
We will continue to improve the transparency of our investment and corporate activities as we work to further enhance our capability to deliver on our purpose.
