Managing infrastructure safety requires long-term focus
Providing a safe workplace is a primary focus for infrastructure assets and for IFM Investors as an asset owner. This is important because infrastructure environments typically involve interaction between a combination of large civil structures, operating equipment and transportation and a range of people – workers, customers, suppliers, tenants, visitors, and community members.
This article explores why safety is everyone's responsibility and why we expect portfolio assets to set and enforce high safety standards, regardless of the local context. The impact of climate change on safety and how technology can enhance the way infrastructure safety is managed is also discussed.

Shannon O’Keeffe
Shannon is responsible for developing IFM Investors’ infrastructure social responsibility strategy, focusing on inclusion and diversity at IFM-owned infrastructure assets. She has extensive experience in engaging stakeholders around improving the industrial relations environment, and is skilled in strategic partnerships, project management, public relations, stakeholder management and strategic communications. Prior to joining IFM Investors, Shannon spent 20 years leading trade union, government and community, and industry engagement and communications’ campaigns across the United States, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
William Phillips
William is responsible for identifying and implementing value creation opportunities and supporting the delivery of best practice initiatives as part of the global asset management team. For new investments he supports the development and execution of acquisition and transition plans from buyer to owner. Prior to joining IFM Investors, William worked at Accenture as a Management Consultant in their supply chain and operations practice.
Nicholas Rivera
Nick joined IFM in September 2018, and he currently helps lead our portfolio-wide Health & Safety and Inclusion & Diversity programs, and is a member of the Aleatica asset team. Prior to joining IFM, Nick was a management consultant at Accenture, where he built experiences across nuclear utilities, change management, and project management.
