The market is not always right

Lesson 5.jpg

We believe it’s important that we are willing to make contrarian or opportunistic calls. So the approach we take to private credit markets is very different to the prevailing mindset you might find in public and traded markets.

As a lender to a business, we know we have priority ranking and first call on assets of the business in the worst-case scenario. So, if we are comfortable with the fundamentals of the business and its medium-term outlook, we find it can be best to hold through periods of volatility.

Markets are not a single, homogenous beast. Different participants will monitor different signals and have access to different information.
