In the UK, pension capital has garnered political attention in recent years. From across the political spectrum, it’s been argued that encouraging pension schemes to invest in domestic businesses and infrastructure stands to drive economic growth.

But is this purely a UK phenomenon? In the latest edition of Off the record, on the road, Luba Nikulina – IFM Investor’s Chief Strategy Officer – shares her insights with Phelim Bolger – Executive Director, Head of UK & Ireland, Global Client Solutions. With IFM Investors owned by pension funds, Luba draws on the Australian model and our advocacy work in the UK to demonstrate the positive role institutional investors can play in supporting strategically important infrastructure.

The conversation later turns to geopolitics, where Luba highlights IFM’s strengths as a global organisation committed not only to helping clients understand the risks they’re facing, but also how to convert these risks into opportunities.

With our owners in Australia… and with the strategically important infrastructure assets that we own in different countries, we can create frameworks and develop scenarios to help our clients think through geopolitical risk, but also how you convert risk into opportunities.
