Asset priorities
Enwave’s vision is to be the partner of choice in the energy transformation towards net-zero carbon, by deploying leading-edge cooling & heating solutions at commercial scale.
Enwave’s district energy systems have a highly efficient design that connect many customers with diverse consumption profiles to a centralised, low carbon energy source. Key examples of Enwave’s innovative technologies are outlined below.
Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC), Toronto
Enwave’s world-renowned DLWC system draws its energy from the bottom of Lake Ontario as a renewable source of cooling for Toronto’s downtown core. The system can deliver energy savings of ~80% compared to a traditional chiller and is undergoing a major capacity expansion.^
Thermal Storage, Toronto
Enwave designed and installed a state-of-the-art thermal storage facility underneath “The Well” mixed-use development precinct. The 2-million-gallon facility harnesses renewable energy from Lake Ontario during off-peak times, easing strain on the electricity grid and reducing costs.
Geo-Exchange, Markham
In partnership with the City of Markham and Mattamy Homes, Enwave is using GeoExchange technology to deliver sustainable energy to a residential community of over 300 homes. The technology, which harnesses thermal energy from the ground, can deliver a ~75% reduction in carbon emissions compared to a typical natural gas system.
