About Amanda
Amanda Steele, Head of Property, within IFM’s real estate business discusses what she’s looking forward to, her career highlights and how she likes to spend her time outside of work.
“I have had a wildly unstructured, but very enjoyable career. I studied International Politics and Public Policy - I love how systems work or sometimes don't! I spent many years working within sustainability teams across diverse sectors, including federal government, insurance, banking and not-for-profit. However, I found my true passion in property, with roles at Stockland, CBRE and now ISPT/IFM. At CBRE, I progressed from my initial role to ultimately lead the property management division, blending my sustainability expertise with operational leadership.”
When asked what some of her notable career highlights are, Amanda states; “the incredible honour of having Al Gore launch my first sustainability report and the very unexpected, but deeply gratifying, recognition of winning the Telstra ‘Business Women’s Award’ in NSW."
Speaking of the integration of ISPT and IFM, Amanda discusses the work that has been done to date.
“There’s so much to be excited about! But for me, it’s the people who truly stand out. The culture at IFM is exceptional. Everyone I’ve encountered has been smart, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The potential for collaboration is clear, and the combined strength of our efforts has the power to be a real game changer for our clients.
Having built a career anchored in global businesses, the opportunity to gain exposure to international business thinking is incredibly exciting - for both my personal growth and my professional journey.”
As for the opportunities that this integration aims to provide, Amanda nods to the potential for growth within her team, our clients, and the wider organisation.
“Personally, I see tremendous scope for my team within IFM. It's exciting to be stepping into a bigger platform. Transformation is something I’ve always gravitated toward, and I genuinely believe being part of IFM offers extraordinary potential and scope.
What I’ve particularly enjoyed is being part of the Integration Management Office (IMO), which has given me a clear view of IFM’s strategy and how we can unite in it. Being connected across infrastructure, debt, private and listed equities allows us to amplify real estate’s role in ways we hadn’t previously considered within ISPT alone and connect with a broader pool of clients. It opens an entirely new growth trajectory.”
Amanda mentions some of the key initiatives she is most excited to support within real estate, and the fantastic work her team are doing in levelling up as part of our integration.
“My team are doing incredible work building a humming operating platform - automated data reporting, enviable analytics, all underpinned by some very sharp macro research. When combined with our sector experts, this positions us to elevate our assets beyond our competitors. We already have a reputation for customer experience, and we’re about to take that to the next level. By delivering tailored, expert service designed to truly differentiates us - and with dedicated teams both at CBRE and internally – I believe that we’re set up to do just that.
“Watch this space: we aim to show have our assets stand out for their intelligence, sustainability credentials, and exceptional customer experience!”
Speaking about how her role will contribute to this growth, Amanda says:
“We expect that our growth will be closely tied to how we build strong connections, both within our business and with current and prospective clients. The Real Estate team and I are focused on our aim to deliver income and ensuring continuity of that income. We're clear on our role and energised by the potential to enhance our impact within a larger organisation."
Outside of work, Amanda’s life revolves around her two beautiful teenagers, Ned and Jemima.
“They are both wonderfully independent and hilariously funny. There's also my husband John, who still holds the title of the smartest human I've ever met!”
Amanda enjoys exercising, going to the theatre, and has a wide, voracious appetite for music of all kinds – “often resulting in terrible dancing that reliably embarrasses my kids!”
Amanda also enjoys travelling, whether alone or with her family, and is always dreaming up the next holiday experience full of adventure and cultural immersion.
“The one I’m most looking forward to is our big family trip to Morocco next year - a destination I've always longed to explore.”
