IFM Investors has announced the following changes to senior-level positions to enhance its asset management capabilities and focus on the North American market opportunity. Alec Montgomery, who has been with IFM since 2008 and most recently was Head of Infrastructure – North America, has been named Global Head of Capital Markets. Julio Garcia, who has also been with IFM since 2008, will assume the role of Head of Infrastructure – North America.

Alec Montgomery’s primary responsibility as Global Head of Capital Markets will be to manage all aspects of acquisition financing and asset refinancing, including execution of IFM Investors’ ongoing strategy to optimize leverage finance across the infrastructure equity portfolios.

“As our asset base continues to grow, the Capital Markets position will drive additional value from this segment of the market,” said Kyle Mangini, Global Head of Infrastructure for IFM Investors. “What’s more, Alec Montgomery and Julio Garcia both bring strong backgrounds to their new roles and are natural choices to lead their respective segment of the business.”

As the new Head of Infrastructure – North America, Julio Garcia will join IFM in New York from his position in Melbourne, where he has played a critical role in developing the Australian infrastructure portfolio since joining the company in 2008.  Julio has led infrastructure investments across diverse sectors, including the US$5.3 billion acquisition of Port Botany and Port Kembla, Ecogen Energy, the Port of Brisbane, and Melbourne and Launceston Airports.

Julio is a US citizen, who prior to joining IFM Investors worked in investment banking and strategy consulting. He was a Principal at Viant Group, a boutique investment bank in San Francisco, where he executed merger and acquisition transactions with private equity and trade buyers, including several Fortune 15 corporations. He has also held positions with Bank of America, Robertson Stephens and Gemini Consulting.

In addition to his deep knowledge of our infrastructure asset portfolio and strong industry relationships, Alec brings more than 15 years of banking experience focused on project and infrastructure finance. This experience was obtained via senior roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Credit Agricole Indosuez, Deutsche Bank and UBS.

IFM Investors’ North American team continues to grow. Based in New York, this team has seen the addition of five investment professionals and analysts in the past seven months, including the addition of Michael Kulper as Executive Director in late 2013. Overall, the additions to the team have significantly expanded IFM Investors’ capabilities in asset management and the origination, analysis, structuring and execution of global infrastructure investments.
